Mazatlan (Jan 27)

Nothing to offer you but a beautiful sunset today. Unless you want to hear about our Walmart trip? Didn't think so......

That ridge got even more prounounced.

We almost didn't walk over to the beach for sunset as it was quite cloudy in the west. Sure glad we did! One of the best we've ever seen.

Have a wonderful night everyone!

Peace out friends!

Mazatlan (Jan 26)

Adventure day! No, the BBQ did not catch on fire again but thanks for asking!!

The day started out with us going out to a restaurant called La Antigua for breakfast with Bill and Carol (thanks for the treat guys!). This is built in to the original old house in centro. Absolutely beautiful. They have retained the character and "flow" of the house. Each room is left "intact" and they have tables scattered all over. The original kitchen is still used as the kitchen and they have a beautiful small courtyard with tables around it as well. We loved it. Bill and Carol are always a plethora of information about these places too so it makes it doubly interesting. Enjoy the pictures.

After breakfast, we did a little walk-around in old centro by the restaurant. Can never get enough of these incredible  buildings.

Our tour guide, Bill...

From centro they took us up to the Observatory area. Spectacular views. If you look closely in one of the pictures you can see the funicular (escalator) that takes you to the top. Super pretty area to watch the ocean too!

You can just make out the funicular tracks
above the white building.

There's our ride in the background "Willy"

Looking back at the Mazatlan malecon

After that we had Bill drop us off at one end of the malecon so we could walk/saunter our way back. Really beautiful day (as always) so we just took our time. last time we were here I collected so much sea glass that my pockets were full, however this time there was not even a single solitary piece. Not even a broken shell for our efforts. we couldn't believe it!

This guy would throw scraps up to the frigate birds and
pelicans. They would swoop down and catch them.
I wasn't fast enough to capture it on camera.

Dinner anyone?

Band has arrived

Fixing one of the beach-side restaurants.

When our kids came here to visit us in 2016, August
(then aged 3 yrs old) was terrified of the wind.
he loved sitting in this car replica of a pulmonia...

Now it's a party!
The tuba and trumpet players have arrived...

Self-explanatory!

Doug loves the sea...

More of the carnival statues (mingotes)

Made it all the way to the end, about 5 kms of
sand and malecon walking.

Sunset was our final "event" in this glorious day and it did not disappoint. Maybe not as bright as others but still, really pretty. We did notice that we hadn't been over to this part of the beaach for a few days and the waves must have been really pounding as it created a real ridge (2-3 feet) in the sand. crazy!

Anyway, that's it for me. There are always gaps in the posting according to internet. I do try and do them every day but sometimes it just isn't possible.

Peace out friends!

Mazatlan (Jan 24 & 25)

Jan 24th: Pretty much just stayed here. Doug wanted to wash Eurii. Who am I to complain?

Eurii is sporting his new black leather bra!

Jan 25th: We took the bus into the big market at Centro. Such an experience. If you can't find what you are looking for here "you don't need it". This market is one block square with multiple entrances. Crazy huge! Just random shots in no particular order...

Cleaning the prickles off the cactus for eating. Yummy stir fried.

Lunch.

Drinks - Horchata and Cebada

Yes, they are the only size they sell...

Taking a break.

Then we did a small walk-about around and ended up at the Plazuela Machado. Lots of pretty restaurants here and on the weekend (I believe) there is always live music playing.

So pretty, right in the heart of the city.

Doug posing by one of the many statues (monigotes) for Carnival. They are all over the malecon as well and we will see more tomorrow on that walk.

Just a shop we like by Plazuela Machado
(the following two pictures as well)

Tonight's sunset from the park.

That's it for the past few days. thanks for tagging along. Doesn't Eurii look grand, all cleaned up?! More to come tomorrow.

Peace out friends!
