Happy Birthday!!

We are wishing Doug's Mom, Helen Beglaw, a very Happy 93rd Birthday today!

We are wishing we could be there to give her a big hug and all of our love. She is a true inspiration and always there to enjoy her family. We know all the family is there to have a special day with her. Have a piece of cake for us too!!

We love you Mom!!
Happy, Happy Birthday to you!!!

After having had our big turkey dinner with the kids on Saturday, on Sunday we walked up and voted and then treated ourselves to a matinee movie, The Intern. Super cute, little flick with Robert DeNiro. Predictable but nice. Very entertaining and only $7 each.
The beautiful sunset on our way home from our walk last night.....spectacular!!

You can see by the slope going down to that white truck how steep our street is!!

Hope everyone is still enjoying their weekend!! Turkey soup is on here!!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

It's that time of year again! It is somehow hard to believe we are in the midst of fall already. I don't think I have quite gotten over the long, long hot summer we had. I am "thankful" for the rain we got in September. We really needed it and guess what.....the grass survived!!

Love the crisp fall leaves. I even enjoy the fact that my lovely potted plants on the deck are putting themselves to sleep. We walked the other day for 6 kms. There was that wonderful smell in the air of dampness. Right now we have a "pineapple express"

Yes, there really is a "white rock" here, although it has
been painted many, many times over the years!!
Mt. Baker in the background on the left....

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Our list of "thankful for" is long and for that we are thankful. We enjoy great family and friends, good health, a warm comfy home and each other.

However you choose to spend it, spend it well!!

Welcome Fall

One writer of a travel blog I frequent (Rick & Kathy), noticed that many authors don't really keep up with their writings if they are staying at their home base. It is very true. I find it difficult to write while we are at home, other than my periodic updates. I guess the thought is that since it started as a "travelling" blog, if you aren't "travelling" there is nothing to say. Besides, who wants to read about me going to my part-time office work! Not much happens there, other than a few good laughs!! You might all have noticed that my musings are mainly about family (...mainly those adorable grandsons!!), friends and local spots. I hope everyone enjoys those posts as well.

As far as future plans go, well we do have a "loosely" knit plan in place. Hooray!!

Our plan is to leave somewhere around Dec 30th and head south to the Mexican border a quickly as possible. With the dreadful dollar exchange between the US and Canada, we don't want to spend much time dallying there this time. Besides, we have done this particular southbound, US route enough times. We plan on staying on the west coast of Mexico, possibly straying as far south as the Melaque area. We actually have given some thought to going down the Baja again, taking the ferry back across the Sea of Cortez and then resuming our west coast explorations. Not sure at this time. Still in the planning process. You never know with us. Since we have to be back to work the first week of April, it does effect how far we can go. Still, it should be a great fun adventure, right?!

That's as much as I know for now!!

Now for some fun....

I do believe this is rather brilliant!
Funny, it is the same wine that we used
all through our US travels in 2014 - Franzia!!
On the weekend, we dropped my Mom, her sister & brother-in-law off at the cruise ship for their 10 day cruise down to Los Angeles and back. Luckily for us, we can see some of the southbound ships leaving. Nice to sit on the deck in the sun and toast them "Bon Voyage"!! Hope they have a great time. No steering the ship this time, didn't go so well last time, remember?!!
Bon Voyage!!

There she goes....the Star Princess.
