Mid-Summer

We love our camping trips, that's for sure but we do some other things as well. I know, shocking, right?

Canadian Snowbirds paid us a visit. Nothing brings up the goosebumps better than a fly-by of our world-renowned jets. The roar was incredible. We had an amazing view as they were back and forth over the Semiahmoo Bay above White Rock and surrounding area.

My Mom, Nadyne, turned 90 yrs young on August 15th. We got the family and a few friends together for a birthday bash on the 19th where she lives. Super fun. She is a party girl at heart (must be where we all get it from) that's for sure.

After this it was just chilling out and enjoying the warm and sunny days of summer. They seem to pass way to quickly, don't they? We did end up in yet another smoky situation here on the coast because of all the terrible wildfires in many parts of BC. Just seems to be a sad part of our summer now. We feel so bad for all those affected.

Still here

Yes we are still here. Once again left you hanging in the summer heat didn't I?

Camping is the number one activity for our summer and we are happy for it. Chilliwack Lake Provicial Park, about 1-1/2 hrs from White Rock. Beautiful sites and great company.

Just outside the gates of the campground there is a well-known trail to Lindeman Lake. The hike is about 40-45 minutes. It took us a bit longer as it was our first time. Doug had a terrible cold and was coughing a lot and Kathy had to carry Holden on her back as it wasn't possible for Josh to put him in the back-pack It would have set them both off balance as the back pack sits him quite high up. 

It is very interesting as you are pretty clamouring over big rocks the whole time and it is quite the vertical climb.  

No, we didn't have to actually climb over this rock, 

but isn't it incredible?

Jasper and I always seem to be at the back looking at 

weird and wonderful things.

Once you get up to the lake there are about 10 tenting platforms available, all with a view of the lake. Also a pit toilet.

The lake has an almost Caribbean water colour to it.

Freezing cold though!

Just to prove we "old people" survived it too. We were all pretty

proud of ourselves. It was a pretty challenging hike.

Strange because the hike down was almost more nerve-wracking going down over all the boulders. The chance to slip was really present all the time but we all managed. Would totally do it again. It was funny seeing all the different and weird things that people were carrying on their way up. We travelled pretty light (well, other than Holden on Kathy's back - she's a warrior). One group had a full sized watermelon and a card table. We weren't sure why. One group that we met at the bottom did NOT looked prepared at all. Sandals and light-weight sneakers and only two bottles of water between four of them. I hope they were okay!

The other adventure on this trip was that Doug, Josh and August went on their first white water rafting trip with Chilliwack River Rafting. They had an awesome time. Water was a bit low but they got the hang of it and I'm sure they will be going again next year.

but he was just a bit faster than I had anticipated.

Jasper's shoes just couldn't take any more fun.
