Ferries and Fittings

Sorry that there aren't any "travel" stories right now! The good news is that we are leaving this coming weekend and heading over to the mainland for 2 days and then heading to Alberta. We will try and take a route we have not done yet. Up through Whistler/Pemberton and over to Cache Creek and Kamloops. From there we will go north on the Yellowhead Hwy to start our Alberta time with Teagan and Shawn in Edmonton. Really looking forward to it!!

First though, I headed over to the Vancouver area to stay with our dear friends, Bob & Danna. Danna is doing a dress for me for our upcoming cruise with my family and she needed to do a fitting. I can't say how much I really appreciate her doing this. She is an amazing seamstress and friend!! I did not take any pictures but we had a great day, walking on the quayside by the river and visiting. I miss them when we are in Nanaimo and they are in New Westminster (Vancouver).

After an overnight stay there I hopped on over to have a quick visit with Kathy & Gus. (Josh was at work). So, of course, I DID take a few pictures there!!

Motivation means...Mommy puts the coveted TV zapper, just out of reach!!

...and Gus will really try hard to get to it!!

...Love this little boy of ours!!!

Mr. Gus gets a new, snazzy high chair!!
Gus (on the right) and some of his new little buddies at the Mom group.
Look who likes to try and stand up!!
So that's been the week so far. Doug is doing some tweaking on Euri to get it ready for the next road trip.
Hope you all have fun this week!!
Cheers friends!!

Nanaimo Time

Out for breakfast and a walk today Nice waterfront to stroll around.....

Entertainment across the street from Tina's Diner. Each busker has to pay $25
per year to the city. They are then free to play, for no more than 2 hours, at a spot. Then they have to move to another spot! There's rules no matter what!!

Bastion Jewellers. Love this sign - good for them!!
No rules here!!

 Downtown shopping area.

Little BC Ferry leaving for Gabriola Island...

A 72 ft. silboat. It is for young people to work on who are recovering from substance
abuse issues. Good for whoever came up with this program idea.....
Appropriately named too...
In comes another Harbour Air floatplane....

 Mr. Dungeness Crab...

Sculpture made entirely of recycled metal pieces....

Cool courthouse....

Nothing else happening! Hope you are all enjoying your Sunday!!
Cheers friends!!

Post Birthday Time

Well, it's never over at this house until the clock strikes midnight!! OR, as our friend Mary-Pat quoted in a beautiful poem today - Look well therefore to this day.

That says it all for me.....

Here are the last few pictures for today. We went to Fibber Magees pub for a nice light beer and some nachos with Mom, before our roast pork dinner at our house. Didn't want to eat too much before dinner!! Besides, sometimes, just going out for a quick beer and snackies is just as good as an expensive dinner!!

Susann & Mom had a strawberry-type beer and they really liked it.
I had a wheat beer, infused with grapefruit and Doug had his favourite beer, Harps...

Then a little shoe shopping at the outdoor mall close to the restaurant.
No, Doug did NOT come with us......

The Red Plate....
About 20 years ago, we were in Whitefish MT on a holiday. We went into a gift shop and they had the Red Plate. The history on these is that they were used in the US midwest many years ago for birthdays, graduations, passing tests, essentially anything that was "special". Thus the red plate was born. There have been many imitators but only one original! I fell in love with it and have used it for almost every birthday or special day at our house since......

Today, Grandma gets the red plate....

Doug and Lacey had on their "do-rags" later!!!

Birthday girl with a homemade carrot cake

Every girl needs a bit of help blowing out those candles!!

The tequila master at work for the shots....

The perfect Mexico tequila, 1800 Anejo!!
Fit for a 80th birthday toast, don't you think?!!
Thanks for coming on by for the second installment of Nadyne's 80th Birthday!!!
Cheers friends!!

Happy Birthday to Mom!!!

Happy Birthday to my Mom, Nadyne Tamas!! You are the greatest and an inspiration to us all. We L-O-V-E you!!! She is a go-getter and we have a hard time keeping up with her adventures!!

In August 2009, she went paragliding up on Grouse Mountain:

Getting all suited up!!
There she goes!!
Now...that's HIGH up!!!

In August of 2011 she decided to go skydiving!!
She went up to 12,500 ft and jumped out of a perfectly good aircraft!!!

Getting suited up, again, with Dave!!

There she goes!!

Here she comes!

Now, that's an accomplishment!!
Anyway, Mom - we are so glad to spend the day together, on the ground, with you!!
Happy Birthday to you!!!
Cheers friends!!

Wishing a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our very dear friend, Danna. We hope your "birthday season" continues and you have a great time tomorrow, August 14th....

Happy memories with you in Bucerias, MX

A toast to you, our dear friend!!!
Happy Birthday!!!!!
Not much else new in the past few days. Yesterday, we went out to a small beach area and watched the ferry come into Departure Bay. Was nice to see things from a different angle.

Yesterday, our Gus turned 8 months old. It is hard to believe!! He is undoubtedly a delightful, loving, adorable gorgeous little man and an accomplished painter!!!

Hope you all have a great week!!
Cheers friends!!
