Well, we have finally got our new suite in Nanaimo organized (and Christmas-ified). I have moved in and retired and Doug is precisely 5 more work days away from being retired!!
Seems a bit surreal actually!!

Heading back home to White Rock (...and work!!). Thanks to everyone who had a part in our holidays. We had the very best time. We had safe travels, saw amazing things, but most of all it's our families who matter to us!! Here is one last peek as we leave the Okanagan.
"It is in the shelter of each other that people live" (Irish proverb)
...and the decorating we found when we got home...thanks Josh & Kathy!! One hundred and one uses of toilet paper!!(we will get you back!)

Well, holidays are coming to a close. We left the Lake Louise campground had breakfast and headed up to Chateau Lake Louise. What a beautiful spot.
Then a stop at the Spiral Tunnel display on Hwy 1. How many times we have driven by this place and never stopped to read about the history. Really interesting!!
A great dinner waited for us in Coldstream (Vernon) at Mark & Carmen's place. Some wine, chatting and relaxing. This is the view from the Tamas household! Pretty nice...

After glacier watching, it was off to Lake Louise for an overnight stay....it rained!! This is the first time we have seen rain for our whole trip, so we have been very lucky! We stayed in the Lake Louise Tent Campground. It is surrounded by an electric fence to keep the grizzlies out (a bit Jurassic Park like!!) but that's OK, I really don't need to tangle with a grizzlie anyway. You only really notice the fencing when you drive in, but kinda funny just the same!

Fantastic, that is all we can say about this day!! An afternoon at Elk Island Park (30 minutes east of Edmonton). Great hike and afternoon fire with smokies and smores! Weather was windy but perfect. Of course, day was capped off with a sighting of many bison grazing. A day to remember.

After a great visit in Mabel Lake we headed for Banff. What a spot to behold. We should never forget just how gorgeous our national parks are...and be thankful for them. We stayed at Tunnel Mtn 1. Best part was riding our bikes DOWN into the Banff townsite and exploring away the day. Challenge was riding our bikes back UP the hill, which was HUGE!! Doug did loads better than I!! We hated to leave our great camping spot.
