Waiting on Spring

Sunrise @ 7:17 AM / Sunset at 5:34 PM

Well, that's an improvement!

I know, I know...it's still winter but I really wish spring would hurry the heck up!

What's up with everyone? Not sure what everyone else does that, like us, aren't traveling in winter. We are definitely feeling the pull of travel, even if it's just local camping, which by the way is ONLY 88 days away! I think I'll make it.

We try to stay busy doing nice walks around our neighbourhood. We do feel very fortunate to have this type of winter compared to some other parts of Canada.

This is the start of the hill to our street. You can see, on the right hand side, a street post. That is ours. The hill really drops off just past our street, to an astounding 23% grade. I have read that it is the steepest residential grade in Canada. Not sure if that's true. I'll just go with it. It is comical to watch people come to this point and stop dead in their tracks wondering "I am allowed to drive down this"?
Pretty funny for sure.

Just a nice walk around White Rock one day. There is always something to look at, if you look hard enough. We do have a number of murals around so I will make an effort to post those in the next installment of this poor little, non-Running away with Doug and Nancy, blog.

I recently started reading the Harry Potter series. My grandsons were horrified to hear that I had never gotten past the first few pages of book one. I have to say, I am really enjoying them. A nice departure from my usual books. I am now into the third book. I recommend them to everyone. You needn't think they are just "kids books".

Happy Valentines Day everyone!!

Flag Day in Canada. Our beautiful Canadian flag was officially hoisted over our nation's capital in Ottawa on Parliament Hill February 15th, 1965. A symbol all over the world of peace, equality and kindness.

We had a really fun outing with our dear friends, Bob & Danna, to our local Blue Frog Studio (about a 10 minute walk from our place). An epic spot for local musicians. They have a very good friend who is the lead singer for a band called Big City Soul. Last night they were doing a Joe Cocker Revue. Even though I only knew a handful of songs it was such a great evening.

Tomorrow is a holiday in British Columbia. Family Day AND Jasper's 10th Birthday. Standby for more pictures on that!!

Peace out friends!

Thought for the Day: It's not the places that you travel to that make the journey worthwhile. It's the people you meet along the way.
