Melaque (Feb 11-13)

Surprised to see me so soon? I know, me too!

Just some musing about the camp and about town. Nothing in particular.

Feb 11 - It's funny how even though you don't do anything, the days just roll along and somehow one is surprised when it's 5 o'clock!

After dinner we rode our bikes back into the square

to enjoy the nightly festivities there

Into the fryer it goes

Cut up and then rolled in cinnamon and sugar

Bought a few too many so brought them home 

and shared them with our neighbours

Feb 12 - We are certainly glad that we brought our bikes with us. Rode about 12 kms today (along with about 9 kms walking). Again, just more milling about town. They finished the malecon on the far side of town so it was nice to ride out there and then go for a nice walk to the end. There is a cool little cove that let's you peak out to the open ocean. So pretty.

Feb 13 - Excitement of the day was the 15 minute "house/van" clean-up. Hey, when you live small you clean up fast! I even gave the bikes a wet wash down. Actually, it was WAY more exciting when the ice-cream gentleman came by in his old VW beetle with the roof half cut off. That ice cream was cold enough to give us both brain freeze. So fun. Comes in with his music going. This could become a bad habit!

I really had nothing to make for dinner. We walked up to the little tiny tienda, 100 feet up the street and bought a package of Mexico hotdogs, a package of nopales (cactus) and an onion.  

Ta dah....Mexican fried rice.

(Yes, I had the rice....smarty pants!!)

That's a fast recap of what's been going on. One can't complain when you wake up every morning to sunshine, the very reason we gave many things up to come here for a few months. 

To say we miss our family is a vast understatement.
