Still going strong

My elementary school teacher said I always had a lot to say. Guess that was correct.

We had a fun gathering at Fraser Valley Cidery on Sat June 17th to have a small, early celebration of my 65th birthday (yikes!!). Such a great local place...

Great store with locally sourced fruits.
Some great combinations too.

You can get a "flight" in many different flavours
of your choice. Great way to sample.

I really love places like this that allow kids to come and hang out as well. Makes a special gathering all the more friendly. There are mostly outside tables, some are on the grass, some undercover. Check out their website for more info:https://www.fraservalleycider.ca/

They even have flights of Italian
sodas for those who are young!

Some people arrived in a limo and the driver was
kind enough to let the boys sit inside. He turned on the lights
for the full impact. They thought it was pretty cool!

Look out "Old Age Security" pension, here I come.

After that we were back at our plaace for a bbq.
Thanks for the awesome cake Kathy!

Father's Day followed the next day (what a weekend!). Both of our dads have been gone for 29 years. Lots has happened since their absence and there are times it seems impossible that they have been gone that long. We miss them both...

My Dad, Leslie

Doug's Dad, Arnold

Our celebration here in White Rock...

Dad's Day Ceasar's!

Cheers to an amazing Dad, Grandpa!

Well, NOW you are all caught up. We are just going to cruise through the next few weeks and keep a low profile. We have a wedding to attend in Kelowna for my nephew on July 8th so really looking forward to that. We are hoping that summer weather will finally make an appearance as the days are now getting shorter by 3 seconds per day! YIKES!!

I'll leave you with this.
Somethings can always find a way....

Peace out friends...

Thought for the Day: Dads are most ordinary men, turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers and singers of songs.

More Spring fun

As promised, let's continue with the fun so far this spring...

We got back from the Kootenay visit with Rudy and parents and then proceeded to clean Eurii (Doug...just sayin') to get ready for yet another camping trip right around the corner. Yes, we do stay home sometimes.

First some shenanigans from around the homestead.

There is a great little kid-friendly pub around the corner from where we live. Great outdoor patio. Three Dogs Brewing (yes, dog friendly too).Sometimes the big kids even get to go out with just Holden in tow.

Like Father like son

Rudy at his camping 7th birthday with Mom and Dad.

His only wish was for a Nintendo Switch.
He's pretty happy!

Another great dinner with my Momma, Nadyne.

Holden getting driving lessons, from everyone it seems.

June 8-12: Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park

Clearly there is something about this campground we love. It is only about 1.5 hrs from home but it is far enough up in the mountains that there is no cell service, which is a good thing.

Holden loves it when big bro carries him.

Pancake day again.

Josh & Jasper

Looking for his next badminton victim.

Holden explaining the rules of Eurii to "Popop" as he calls Doug

Perfection....

Wow, that wraps up another great camping trip and "we" even got to check in with our Kootenay family on Rudy's 7th Birthday.

Thanks for coming on by everyone! There are more events to follow but I'm afraid it's wine time right now.

Peace out friends!

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder?

Back friends!!

After Mother's Day we started a few different camping trips.

May 18th to 22nd: Chilliwack Lake Provincial park

Best of friends...

Two cans of Pilsbury Grand cinnamon rolls, cut up, with pie filling spread on them. 45 minutes in the camp oven and you have breakfast.

Clearly I am explaining something to Holden

I still love that Jasper will hold my hand. He and I are normally known as the tardy ones in the group. Always stopping to look at something. Josh always jokes about "who let those two
be at the back of the pack?"

Doug, August, Kathy, Holden, Josh
Jasper & me.

August and Jasper spent the night in
Eurii in the "upstairs suite"

Grandpa & August making the traditional Sunday pancake
breakfast. Doug says that August is getting so good
that soon Grandpa won't have to help at all!

After the May long weekend, we came home, cleaned up and repacked to head to the Kootenay's to see Teagan, Shawn and Rudy. Super excited!!

May 24th to 31st: Kootenay area, BC

We love the drive there. It takes us about 7-8 hours depending on how often we stop. I especially love the fact that we both drive.

Taking a break at Manning Park Lodge

Biggest raven I have ever seen.

Beautiful British Columbia

Of course it started raining just before we got to
Kokanee Creek Provincial Park.

The rain was short lived, thankfully!
Our favourite, Site 62

Beautifully well run provicial park.
We give it a five star rating!

Kokanee Creek

Rudy, now 7 years old!!

Teagan, Rudy, Doug & me

Took a little visit down to the rail yard. This old safe was just sitting there. A bit unbelievable. It had to be 100 years old.

Hamming it up at the marina

When you know, you know.

Grandpa and Rudy sharing a laugh about something

He's such a beautiful little dude

Of course he did have to go to school so we took a day trip about 40 minutes away to Kaslo. Super cute little town. Here's our walk-about.

Paddlewheeler being restored to it's former glory.
Used to take people up and down Kootenay Lake.

All too soon it was time to leave. See you in July Rudy!! We really miss them. At times it seems that they are so far away....

I'll stop the post here because I have a few more posts to do still. I know, I know....I keep saying that I will stay up to date. I'm really trying to do better.

Peace out friends.
