Thanksgiving Camping

Seems strange that we are here at this time of year again. Hard to believe that time just flies along like it does.

MAPLE BAY CAMPGROUND, CULTUS LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK

We have done Thanksgiving camping for eight years now. The first few years we were at another provincial park and there were a scattering of people camping. Then, it seemed to explode with people. We ended changing to Cultus Lake Prov Park because they have cabins available for some of our famiy members that don't have camping rigs. Works out really well.

Most of our years we have been really, really lucky with good weather. A few years we have definitely had our share of rain but looking back on the pictures Kathy and I realized how many times we have been in the sunshine.

First off though, August and Jasper in their
orange shirts for Truth and Reconcilliation Day, Sept 30th.

August taught us how to make an origami shirt for
Truth & Rec Day.....

Off to Thanksgiving we go.....

Doug and Eurii ready for the troops...

This big field is right behind our campsite and is
so nice for just hanging out in the sun....

Once the turkey is safely in the oven we all head down to the beach for our "Stuffing Splash" into Cultus Lake. It's cold but a fun way to start the afternoon.

Swimmers ready....

We have the dinner pretty dialled in after this many years. Everyone has their "thing" that they prepare and it all works out amazing.Believe it or not, we have NEVER run out of food!

Total count of 24 people fed this year!

It was that kind of day!

Movie time after a long day

The pancake crew on Sunday morning.
August, Ivy and Grandpa Doug

Then it was a walk over to the Lindel Beach store for ice cream
Yes, after the HUGE pancake breakfast we still needed ice cream!

Our Rudy update. All ready for the fall season!
We love you Rudy!!

That has wrapped up our camping season. Since we bought Eurii last September we have slept in it for a total of 145 nights (including our Mexico time). That is pretty amazing. Some people don't use their RV that much in years.

I guess we don't do a lot of "fancy traveling". I consider this blog my own personal diary of what we do. I hope you enjoy it. Nothing huge to be gained from it. No earth-shattering information, just our family life as it goes. We are very lucky to be surrounded by so much love.

I'll see you all later....

Peace out friends.

Thought (laugh) for the Day:  I prefer not to think before speaking. I like being just as surprised as everyone else by what comes out of my mouth.

Compressing a few events

It seems that I REALLY had a lot of catching up to do so I will compress a few events into one post. You're welcome!!

LABOUR DAY CAMPING TRIP: This is a pretty regular camping outing for us. We can't stress enough how much we enjoy being with the kids.

Holden Josh, Kathy, Jasper, August

Ceasar's all around.
Of course, August has a alcohol free version.

Overnight visitors in Eurii for movies

Pancake session.
Soon August will do them all by himself!

Three generations

Goodbye Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park
Until next year!

KOOTENAY TRIP: Sept-Time to head to the Kootenay's to visit with Rudy.

Cruising through the car show

Always time for snacks

Looking down at the Kokanee spawning salmon.

You know these people

A poor old Vanagon abandoned in the weeds.
We wondered what adventures it had and what brought it to this place.

Picking up Rudy after school

We love to spend time with Rudy. Since we live 8+ hours away we really miss him alot so it's always hard to leave and head for home.

The drive along the Crowsnest Hwy 3 is a beautiful drive. Stopped at one of our favourite fruit stands, Parsons Fruits in Cawston BC on the way home. There are so many stands along this stretch of Hwy 3 and they are all nice but we always stop here because Doug used to work with a lady, Joan, who worked at Parsons as a teenager so somehow we feel this strange allegence to it.

Very interesting how the apple (and other) fruit trees are grown now.
Straight up. No more big branches reaching out...

Passing through the Manning Park area.
Trees are just beginning to turn.

Back to this crazy group of dudes...

Really getting into fall now. I do love the colours, leaves on the ground, etc. Not sure that I will like the rain that will follow.

There you have it. Another catch-up in the books. Just one more camping trip left for the year and that is our 8th annual Thanksgiving camp. We really look forward to this one.

Peace out friends!

Thought for the Day: Gratitude helps us to see what is there instead of what isn't.
