The rest of this post is strictly a family related post.....no travelling involved here, sorry!!
Okay, let's roll the clock back. Doug's atrial flutter procedure on Christmas Eve went well in Victoria. He was not discharged until about 8 pm so we stayed in Victoria until the morning of the 25th. A bit weird for us, waking up in a hotel room on Christmas morning, by ourselves but we survived!!
We got back up to Nanaimo about 12 pm and enjoyed a really nice afternoon and dinner with Sue and Lacey. She did all the cooking so kudos to her!! Thanks, sis!!
That's a lot of ham!!!!
So, we hung around and cleaned up the very few decorations that I had put out for Christmas and then on Saturday the 27th, we headed over to the Mainland for another Christmas celebration with the gang over there. We spent our time with Josh, Kathy & Gus and there was MUCH present opening, as you can imagine!!I Pictures aren't the best quality but you will get my drift!!
Gus and Grandpa Doug....
Every box in the house has been claimed!!
Grandma & Grandpa's new "waffles maker" as Gus calls it.....
Yeah, don't let that little "innocent" face fool you!!!!
This is the best Christmas present there could be......
The kale smoothie king!!!
A few outings and a great walk at the beach wound things up quite nicely...
Dinner at my Mom's with my brother Mark, Carmen, Justin & Daniel
Our nephew Daniel & Gus.....
A little hockey competition between Mark & Josh!
Josh training Justin on the fineries of Grandpa' Tamas' Loganberry
wine, made in 1969. Classic and very special.
Oh boy, those shots are tiny so we can preserve the last few
tastes of my Dad's wine......miss you Dad!! Bottoms up everyone!
One of our favourite places to walk, Crescent Beach. December 30th, the weather was at it's finest and we enjoyed time with Gus on the beach....
Some serious seaweed moving.
Much time spent throwing rocks into the sea....
Gotta love this age, when everything becomes a game, like
jumping on the bench with Grandpa!!!
And this is pretty much where the wheels fell off our bus. On December 31st we had such BAD colds, worse than I ever remember having. Doug and I stayed at Josh & Kathy's while they went out for a bit. We rang in the New Year, huddled under blankets on their couch with cold tablets and Tylenol up to our proverbial "ying-yangs"!!!
So, here we are, back in Nanaimo and the cold still lingers but is mostly gone. What a gong show it turned out to be. Thus the reason you have not heard from us!!
So, a VERY belated Happy New Year to you all and a great and healthy 2015 for everyone, near and far from us. Not to sound like a broken record, but we treasure each and every person and appreciate all the comments and interest in the blog.
As for what's up in 2015? Well first, we can say that we are heading to Phoenix (flying - shhh....don't tell Euri) on January 22nd for 10 days. That will be fun. We are travelling with Doug's brother Don and wife, Diana from Langley. Stay posted for that because I will fill you in on all our outings there!
After that we are preparing to move back to the Lower Mainland. Likely not until the middle of April when we are hoping to take over Bob & Danna's house in New Westminster again while they take off for their stint in Italy until the end of the year. Time will tell. As you all know, plans are always changing. Flexibility is key. Anyone want to rent a great basement apartment in Nanaimo with a great landlord?? Quality construction, that part we can attest to!!
Thanks for checking in again. Sorry it took me so long to post!! Hope you are all well!!
Thought for the Day: "PEACE"....It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart.
