Medicine Hat AB to Nelson BC (708 Kms=439 Miles)

We had a beautiful drive today, in the sunshine and with little traffic. It is an easy jaunt on good highways. The mountains were beckoning us!! This drive would take us southwest through Lethbridge and the Crowsnest Pass and into BC.....oh, and our last and final province and time zone!!

Peaceful and calm (no wind) morning.....a little ways out of Medicine Hat.

Mr. Soybean in Bow Island!!

Farming is pretty big business out here...

Many, many fields of canola.

First view of the Frank AB slide area of many years ago...

Half a mountain side came down and obliterated the town of
Frank AB on April 29th, 1903

Wow - the BC Rockies up ahead!!!!

Coming through the Crowsnest Pass.....

Do you see what I see?????

Welcome to British Columbia!!!!!
We are so excited to be back in our home province after a full six months away!!
We are currently registering about 28,000 kms (17,398 miles) on this epic journey!!
We will give you a full update from home!!

And here is OUR provincial flag for British Columbia....

Lunch stop at Jimsmith Lake in Cranbrook BC with a little Timmie's tea!!

We used to bring Teagan up here and paddle around in our canoe. She was
only 18 months old. She would often fall asleep in the canoe!!

The beautiful Creston valley. Very fertile area.

At this point in the highway you can either go up and over the very high pass of the Salmo Creston Hwy 3 or take the Hwy 3A up the east side of Kootenay Lake to the FREE ferry at the top. The drive is about 70 kms up a twisty great road. I would recommend anyone do this drive.

You can't see it in the picture but the lake runs all up the left side of the road....

Euri waits for another ferry!! He has taken a lot of ferries on this trip!!

Us with our ice cream. No, we have not had nearly enough ice cream!!

Here comes the Osprey 2000

It is a 35 minute ferry ride over to Nelson....FREE!!

Cool ospreys on the little indoor seating area.....

Just leaving the Crawford Bay side.
Nice viewing areas up top and down below too....

The other ferry heading back to Crawford Bay. It is a little smaller.

Coming up the channel to the dock.

Boy, does the captain ever have to crank this boat around
to get it into the sideways dock!!

It takes about 30 minutes and then you are at the bridge
leading into Nelson BC

Timber Tattoo Co, 614A Josephine Street, Nelson BC
The kids have done a great job getting the new shop set up and business is
already starting to come in the door...old & new clients.

Beautiful work space in the reception area.....

Great job guys and good luck with the shop!
We think it will be a big success in Nelson.....

So we are hanging out here with Teagan and Shawn until Friday. We really like the town of Nelson. Such a nice vibe here.

Oh, the other "little" thing to mention is that it was our 37th wedding anniversary on July 2nd!! Yahoo to us!! Doug likes to call it "Wedded Bliss"!! He told me he was happy to take me on a cruise for our anniversary - across Kootneay Lake!!

Happy 37th Anniversary to us!!!

Peace....
