Stonington CT (Day 2)

Well, the storm did materialize last night. It got so windy that in the late evening we dropped the top down on the van. Otherwise, it is like living in a large bass drum. It's just way easier to do it BEFORE you go to bed rather than waking up feeling like you are tipping over from the wind gusts in the middle of the night. Oh, and it did rain - lots in the night. However, on the up side, we awoke to amazing and bright blue skies this morning!! Nice.....

We hardly moved out of the van today. I think New York really took it out of us....for the good of course!!

Remember that rally group I told you about yesterday, the Clam Diggers? Well, they did invite us over for dinner and insisted that we come and NOT to bring anything. So, we accepted their kind invite and headed over at 5 pm for barbeque and all kinds of salads and veggies, corn, etc. So nice of them to "adopt" us for the day. Oh, and they even called us back for dessert. Thanks so much everyone!! The food was wonderful!!!

Thanks for dinner!!

So, we are gone from here tomorrow (Sunday). Very nice place and we have enjoyed our stay at Seaport RV Resort and Campground. If you are coming through the Old Mystic/Stonington CT area, check them out at www.seaportcampground.com

We have some "minor" plans in place. We are heading east possibly to a place called Sandwich, MA and a campground called Peter's Pond that we have heard good things about. We may be there just one night, maybe 2. We want to go down to Woods Hole MA. The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) is the largest independent oceanographic research institution in the United States. We will see what it is like down there, just for a few hours. We also want to go right out onto the Cape Cod National Seashore and we can go out there from Sandwich MA. The next few days will be busy but fun. After that, we plan on a quick drive through Boston to say hello to our lifelong, "almost one of our own kids", Austin Batalden. Heads up girl, we are coming for coffee on Tuesday!!! Clear your schedule for an hour!!!

With that we will bid you all a "Goodnight"! We are ready for tea and bed. Oh, plus Doug said he would buy me breakfast in Old Mystic CT tomorrow. It's right down the road from us, out on the seashore. I have to get my beauty rest for that you know!!

Peace....

Thought for the Day:   I, myself, am entirely made of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...

  1. Love your thought for the day. It sounds like you're just plowing through the East Coast having about as much fun as any two people can have. Are you finding these great campgrounds through people you meet or how? I'd love it if you'd mention camp site rental charges. Keep on having so much fun!

  2. Hi MP - Sorry I am a bit late getting to these. I have tried to mention the rates we have paid but I guess I have missed a few. You can always email me with any you want to know specifically about though! This one at Seaport RV in Stonington CT was $22 per night with our Passport America membership.....WELL worth it to purchase one of these great memberships!! If there are any others you need, just contact me. Many of the sites we have stayed in are in the PA book that you get with a membership too.
