Anyway, after clean-up we hopped on the trolley once again and this time, we headed down to Gatlinburg. It is about 10 miles away. Total cost for the trip, including coming back to the park was $7. Pretty cheap!
From what we saw, we think Gatlinburg is a very nice little town. It reminded us both of a tiny Banff and of Kimberley in the BC Kootneays. It is not at all like Pigeon Forge. None of that big arcade type of entertainment....
Welcome to Gatlinburg!!
Beautiful little river runs through it....sorry can't remember the name.
...and a nice walkway.
Well, every town has a haunted house, right?
They have a great little chairlift that goes up to 1800 feet and looks out over the whole town and valley. We really enjoy chairlifts!!
Seems to us that this is pretty much the whole town you see.
There are lots of cabins in the surrounding hills and some small lodges too.
Beautiful view of the surrounding Smoky Mtns.
Like a little small time Banff....just minus the high mountains.
Then, we wandered into Davy Crockett's Tennessee Whiskey
Tasting establishment.....they were GOOD!!
And there are now a few on board in good old Euri!!
He likes them too!!
And they do the fermenting and bottling right here in their little shop....
A bit of refreshment and time to get the trolley back to the park....
We will be leaving here tomorrow and heading to Charlotte. We have the NASCAR Hall of Fame to see. We are on a busy time line this week!! Lots of miles to cover.
Hope you are all enjoying your Easter festivities!!
Thought for Day: Giving up on your goal because of one setback is like slashing your other three tires because you got one flat.
