Cheifland FL to Anna Maria Island FL (170 Miles)

Wow - finally another birthday!!

We want to wish Doug's sister, Diane Johnston, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY. She and Brian are WAY down under in Brisbane Australia right now, just wrapping up a 3 month visit with her daughter Dionne and hubby, what's his name Jason!! (ha ha ha).

Even though you are 15 hours ahead of us, it is still "officially" your birthday in THIS time zone!! Hope you guys had a great day!!

So, here is a funny story about the other lady in the picture. We were working on our computers and started up a conversation with her. She lives in Coombs BC (about 30 minutes from Nanaimo) AND...her name is Nancy!!! Go figure!! Once you get travelling, it is, indeed a small world!!

Anyway, happy birthday Diane!!

Later, I managed to get a shot of a red cardinal - one of my favourite birds....

We left the campground about 8:30 am today. We have really enjoyed our stay at Manatee Springs State Park. We can highly recommend this park for anyone to stay at.

Once on the road, Highway 98 first and then Highway 19 and onto Highway 275 are pretty much one shopping area after another. It took us quite awhile but we find it quite interesting nonetheless.

Lots of this.....

The Skyway Bridge to Anna Maria Island and Bradenton.
Toll bridge that cost $1.25. Good chance to empty out my change purse!!

Little fishing areas alongside the new bridge. We think they,
maybe, were part of the old highway system.

 Up and over.....

Didn't take long to get to Auntie Mary & Uncle Alan's house. They are here for the next month or so to get a break from their home in Marquette, MI. I believe it's pretty cold up there!!  Super nice place. It is also right on a canal so it will be interesting to see all the comings and going of the marine traffic over the next few days!!

Nice living room - see Bella on the rug??

Looking down into the back yard and the canal....

Front driveway. I will get a better picture tomorrow of the house.....

 Canal right behind the house.
You can just see Uncle Al's boat at the closet dock on the left....

Uncle Al & Doug on the way to the beach.....

Auntie Mary & I......

This beach is about a 5 minute walk from their house....

 More beautiful, white, soft sand.....

Cheers!!!

Welcome to Anna Maria Island, FL....

Uncle Alan & Auntie Mary.....

Nice sunset.....

Backyard tonight....

So, that's it for us. Super different to be in a "normal" size house again. I think the couch is about the same size as our van is!! We will look forward to having the ability to re-connect with family (long over-due) and explore this beautiful island for the next few days!!

Hope everyone has a great Friday night!!

Peace....
