Moving Time for Mom

Yup, here I am apologising again......but still sorry for our absence. We have continued this summer to pack up my Mom's house. It has been quite the challenge to sort through 50 years of living in one place! She has done an amazing job sorting and letting go of stuff she no longer needs! It is a very emotionally draining job for sure!

We did a big garage sale for her. It was really fun because all my siblings & assorted spouses were here, along with my Mom's best friend so needless to say, there was lots of laughing. Never underestimate the value of your old stuff/junk!! She made a cool $775. Pretty good we think!

Christmas anyone??

Pretty much looked like a little store!!

All of us together on these steps, one last time.
(From L to R) Mark, Susann, Mom, Julie & me!

We decided that we needed a fun day this week so we took Mom up to Whistler for the day on Wednesday (15th). It was her 79th birthday. My Mom is incredible and quite the party person. We had a ton of fun going up the open chairlifts on Blackcomb all the way to the Peak 2 Peak Gondola (http://ww1.whistlerblackcomb.com/p2pg/). This is the new gondola that spans from one mountain range to the other. Check it out, there are some pretty amazing stats. At one point, you are about 1.5 kms ABOVE the valley floor. For someone not too comfortable of heights, I wasn't nervous at all. It was amazing!! After that we headed back down to Whistler village to the Brewhouse Pub for a celebratory lunch and some fun people watching. Of course, it is the home of the 2010 Winter Olympics, check out our pictures!

Beautiful birthday girl!!

Sometimes, this is just too beautiful for words!!

Happy Birthday Mom, We love you!!

Now we are in the final crunch. Sorting, packing and garage sale are behind us. The movers come in on Monday (20th) in the morning to load up the remainder into pods to await delivery into her new place!! She is moving to the Lonsdale area in North Vancouver. Right in her old stomping grounds so she is super stoked. Brand new building with a gorgeous view of "her mountains". We think she will be pretty happy there, living the "high-life" in her new high-rise apartment!!

So....next week we will finally arrive back in Nanaimo. We will chill out a bit then start our exploring...promise! First on the agenda is a day trip to Victoria for High Tea at the Empress Hotel. We thought we would treat Mom to a little "vacation day"!! After that, we will probably head up island and explore and then maybe over to the Sunshine Coast. Should get pretty fun!!

Thanks for hanging in there and checking on the blog!!

Cheers!
